Forrester Says IT Spending will be UP in 2010
Forrester has recently announced that based on a survey of CIO’s, they expect the US IT market to grow 6.6% in 2010. Not a boom, but after an 8.2% drop in 2009 and at more than double the 3.1% anticipated GDP growth rate, I’ll take it!
Growth will start slowly in 2010 but pick up steam later in the year. A weak dollar and strong spending in Asia Pacific are expected to fuel growth during the first half of the year.
CIO’s don’t expect to grow their IT budgets in 2010, but they do anticipate being able to exceed their budgets as confidence in the recovery takes hold. Larger companies will lead the trend; smaller companies relying on bank financing will lag.
New technologies like analytics, storage virtualization and cloud computing will dominate the spending. Established industries like PC’s, CRM and ERP will make a strong comeback.
